[...ishida isn't really sure what to say. as long as she's here she will definitely just be another schnee, another person with title and nothing else. she simply wants to break free and be herself, and in order to do that she just needs to not be here.
how can he help? well, he has one idea- but he's literally never spoken about himself personally like this ever.]
...Have I ever told you about my dad? [he isn't changing the subject, he has a point to all of this.]
[alright- here goes nothing. he truthfully hopes that she will be able to understand what he is trying to get across... and if not, then he'll apologize to her profusely.
ishida takes in a deep breath and then moves to take a seat in one of the chairs in her room. he had been standing the whole time and he realized now that he wasn't going to leave any time soon, and this would be a long conversation. he gestures for her to take a seat as well.]
As you know, my father is the best doctor in Atlas. When I was younger all I ever wanted to be was a Hunter, but he told me time and time again that my dreams were... pointless, that they were useless. That I would be useless for following them. He wanted me to become a doctor, just like him, and carry on like that.
I didn't want to do what he wanted of me, I wanted to follow my own path and my own dreams. We... have never seen eye to eye, and he still calls me worthless for not being a doctor like him.
I'm not trying to say that I understand what it's like to be a Schnee, I don't, but... I can at least understand you when you talk about being your own person. If I had ever followed him, if I had become a doctor, I would have been miserable, I wouldn't be myself.
...So you can't go back to how things were. I say... just... wait it out until you can leave again. You will be happier away from this place. [because she really can't be herself while she's here.]
[ Weiss follows to take a seat. It's a good thing she has plenty of very nice seating around in her big fancy ridiculous room. ]
Is that why you always seem to know what I'm feeling?
[ There's a soft smile on her lips, though there's a tinge of sadness to it. She hates that Ishida has to go through the same sort of things that she did. Even if it's not to the same degree- Her father would never outright call her worthless, just make her feel it, and Ishida's didn't seem discontent when he couldn't keep him completely in line. There certainly seemed to be a lot less yelling, though Weiss suspects that may just be because she's always behind her closed doors whereas not behind Ishida's. ]
I'm honestly not.. exactly sure where I would go even if I left. I understand why he wants me here now, too.
[ She hasn't overheard Ironwood talking about where things are going down yet after all.. ]
[ishida tapped a finger on the table in front of him, just thinking to himself as she asked that question. of course, that had always been the reason- that was always why he understood what she was going through. he felt it too, in a sense, that his father wanted nothing to do with him.]
Yeah, I'd say so. My father and I still aren't talking to one another right now, and my mother.... [he trailed off, looking to the side.] I lost her a long time ago. The only family I was ever close with was my grandpa- he was like my teacher. He passed away as well when I was young.
[wow he sure is spilling a lot to her tonight, and this will most likely be the last time he says this much personal stuff to her. he just wanted to let her know that she really wasn't alone in more ways than one.]
Want me to do some digging around with the servants? I can ask for some information, try and find you a lead of maybe where you could go. [and take him with pls???]
[ None of that sounds like something that should be celebrated. Even if Weiss doesn't feel like she can be herself around her father, so she certainly can relate to wanting to be away from him, she doesn't wish him ill. Feeling badly about how you're being treated from someone you love is the worst... but they're still family, and it still doesn't feel good to lose them or have a bad relationships with them. ]
We're even more similar than I thought. I loved my grandfather as well. He was.. a very different man than my father is. He's someone I could look up to, and he's the reason I know that just because I'm a member of this family doesn't mean that we have to go the same path as my father. I don't think you have to either, Uryuu.
[ But.. digging around, she shakes her head. ]
I don't want to get you in trouble because of me. Even if I leave now, I still can't...
[ She can't summon. If she gets into trouble on her own, given her record of not being the greatest solo fighter, she may not be able to pull herself out of it before she masters that. Weiss looks to the side, her brows furrowed in slight frustration with herself. She managed an arm once, but.. It's not enough. ]
[ishida shook his head, indicating that it was alright. this was just how things were now, and he was fine with not talking to his father. he really didn't want to converse with that man at all.
ishida also knew something about the history of the schnee having, just bits and pieces from having worked in the manor for so long. he knew of jacques marrying into the family, and he had heard about her grandfather- but hearing that her grandfather really was a good person put ishida at ease.]
I refuse to be like my father at all. [he definitely won't go down the same path as him.
however as for the digging around-]
Trouble? [he chuckled a bit, now pushing up his glasses on his face.] I won't get in trouble- I know how to play my cards right. Besides, there's nothing wrong with the servants and I having a little chat that may lead into finding some answers for you.
[he paused though before speaking up again.] ...You still can't-?
[ She holds out her hand, looking very serious. There's a pinky out. ]
Let's hold each other to that. I heard from one of my teammates that when you make a promise with another person- a friend, this is the most official way to do so.
[ Yeah, she's going to make him pinky promise they'll never become their fathers. ]
If I get in trouble he's likely to take away whatever I enjoy to get to me. Don't forget that.
[ She sighs. ] Summon. Properly, anyway. I've managed an arm...
[ah... a pinky promise? ishida blinked at her, not expecting someone like weiss would offer him something like that. however, this was like... a new sort of weiss, so he accepted her sort of childish style of promising. ishida reached out to her, taking her pinky finger in his and he gave it one firm shake.]
I promise, then.
[not a hard promise to make at all.]
Hmm... so it's training you need then. Guess you'll have to do it in your room or something... huh? [since she isn't allowed outside really.]
sorry im so slow i got sick and did like no tags for a week and finally crashed and burned :')
[ If she's being childish, it's because she's more used to people who have a sense of whimsy and playfulness than she ever had before. If she's being childish, Ishida is too by accepting it, so she holds no shame about it. If she's being childish, she's probably largely unaware because she never had anyone to teach her about pinky promises when she was a child. Her family wouldn't have allowed such behavior. Or rather, her father wouldn't have. ]
Most likely.. It isn't as though I can do it out in the open.
[he was about to offer to help her when there was suddenly a knock at her door. ishida glanced over at weiss before moving to stand up. it was her room, sure, but he could check who was at the door. once he had opened it he saw another servant standing on the other side. it was a woman, and she whispered something to him before he nodded. once he responded back to her she soon walked away.
ishida, after having closed the door again, looked over to weiss.]
....So, as much as I would like to stay and chat, seems my talents are needed elsewhere. [gotta make all the clothes it seems.]
[ Weiss had figured out what was going on the second that the servant who'd knocked continued addressing Ishida rather than herself. She nodded and turned her back to him, walking further into her room to look out the window, though after a few seconds she did turn around. ]
[ It is not actually ten years later but probably about a year later. Weiss had finally managed to get out from beneath her father's influence- she'd lost just about everything that had been keeping her there, it wasn't as hard of a decision as most people would've thought. Leaving her family, her home behind should've been harder than it was. But when you lived with the kind of person who thought 'love' was blind obedience and 'family' was little more than pawns to keep you at the top, the kind of person who thought everything she stood for and believed in was nothing more than the tantrum of a child who hadn't learned to fall in line yet, it wasn't difficult to realize that her home had been the place that had fallen- not the place where she felt more alone than ever.
Ishida and Klein were the only ones that had made it bareable at all. They were the closest thing to family- real family she had left in that house, and Ishida had offered to come with her. Klein had offered to help them out, but his place was there. Part of her hoped that he could be as good an influence on Whitley as he had on her, even if she doubts it. Whitley was too far gone, too entrenched in their father's world to realize that no one who's happy spends more than half of their conversations yelling angrily at their alleged friends and family. If anyone could help him at all, it was Klein.
Ishida was with her now though, or he.. was meant to be. After the ship had to divert course when they realized that a White Fang settlement had cropped up between their path to capture ships, they managed to escape. Ishida and Weiss had been detrimental to doing so, but if they were going to get to Mistral still they had to leave the ship after it had decided to return to the previous shipment yard and report what had happened. This left them in a small town, sharing a room at a small inn with the money that the cargo ship had given them as a thanks for getting them out of there.
Weiss was in the inn room waiting for Ishida to return. He'd said he was going to go out and get some groceries, and given that they were all the both of them had? She didn't want to leave without letting him know. Particularly since she wanted to bring him with her anyway. As much as she was enjoying her freedom, she did.. miss people. Weiss never liked being alone, and now that she'd been near-forced to be alone, the one person who made that never a true reality was someone she wasn't particularly keen on spending too much time apart from. he should be back from the store soon, so she didn't have a problem waiting. Or so she'd thought, but it was taking far longer than a trip to the store should, and she was starting to get antsy-- she paced back and forth across the room, her heels probably driving whoever was underneath their floor up the wall, occasionally commenting to herself about how it was rude of him to make her wait. ]
[and he would apologize for making her wait, in due time at least. ishida was currently busy trying not to collapse on the way back to the inn. on his way to get groceries he had noticed a certain individual, a silver haired man that had looked so familiar. ishida had realized he knew him from the tournament, it was that boy that had his leg practically destroyed by yang.
he had been just about to leave him alone when he noticed another woman walk up to him. he heard the two of them talking, something about... wait, did they mention a 'ruby rose?' ishida couldn't let that one go, especially since it was weiss's friend. he had been about to walk up to them before he realized that he shouldn't. he wasn't reckless, he wasn't someone like kurosaki. instead he had turned away from the two, but he knew that they had caught his eye. they knew he had been listening in.
that was when they followed him, confronted him, and attacked him. badly. the two of them were trying to kill him, but instead he was able to somehow get away from them. just barely, though.
he had been stabbed by her sickles, kicked by the boy, and he was bleeding out extremely badly. they had broken his aura, they had drawn so much blood, and he was just hoping he could reach the inn and get some help. he needed to get back to weiss- she couldn't lose him, too.
ishida had pushed open the door to the inn, stumbling in and then falling on to the ground. his blood pooled out of him, turning the wood a deep red. everyone in the room screamed, rushed to him, and he managed to breathe out a name. he said to call for weiss, his friend, that he was sharing a room with.
[ One of the scariest parts about all of this was the idea that she wouldn't have known if he hadn't made it back. There was no communication, there was no way to track down someone. Emerald and Mercury could've fed his body to some local Grimm and she never would've heard from him again, left to wonder if he abandoned her or if he'd died, or gods know what. That was a thought that Weiss quickly had to squash, though. The last thing they needed right now was more fear. Those in the inn were already panicking, giving into their emotions and that.. that was going to attract Grimm.
Despite that Ishida was barely breathing, Weiss had to take a deep breath as she stood at the top of the stairs. Calm down, keep collected. At least she didn't have to smile, but she could handle this. That didn't stop her from practically leaping over the railing to get to him once she collected herself, but she was able to at least act like a huntress instead of a panicked runaway. ]
You, call the doctor. You, my name is Weiss Schnee; I have ID, you can bill Schnee Dust Company for the clean-up. [ They won't be staying here much longer if someone dangerous enough to do this knows where they are. Her father knowing where she is isn't a problem and he's not going to renege on an expenditure like this unless he wants the bad press that goes with it. She continues pointing people out. ] You, get me some towels and hot water. You, take a deep breath. We're going to get through this together and we're going to find out what caused this and make sure you're safe again before we leave. Understand?
[ The people seem to calm down once they realize that she seems to know what she's doing. She doesn't feel like it at all, but it's the confidence that people believe in. She's just hoping it's enough to keep the Grimm away. Her voice quiets down and she kneels down next to Ishida. ]
Ishida, your job is to not move and keep breathing and hold my hand and squeeze so that I know you're still conscious. [ She reaches for his hand so he doesn't have to move, but she waits to feel the effort, hopefully. ]
[he was breathing, just barely but he was breathing. he could barely focus on anything, there was a ringing in his ears and everything was starting to go blurry. there was an intense pain all over his body, and he clenched his teeth as he felt hot waves of pure agony roll over him.
ishida knew that weiss was near him, that she was giving orders, and that she was calming everyone down in the situation. he knew that she was trying her best, and he also knew that deep down she must have been afraid as well. she was scared for him, for his well being, and he felt bad for making her even worry. if only he had his scroll, if only he had a way of contacting her at all before meeting with emerald and mercury.
he was bleeding out on the floor due to the large gashed across his chest and back. bones were broken, certainly, and he turned to look at weiss when she asked him to hold her hand. he did grab it, firmly, and he held her with all his might.
ishida tried to say something- but then he coughed up blood, splattering it all over her and her clothes. internal bleeding... perfect. he had seen the cases back home while living with his father, and he knew that he was in a dire situation. if he didn't get help he could die...
he refused to let that happen though. he swallowed the thick liquid in his mouth, his blue eyes staring into her own.]
[ It didn't sound as confident as the other orders she'd given out, more pleading than anything else. But his grip was firm, which meant he was still alive. The doctor was on the way, and Weiss...
she had to do something or he was going to bleed out. ]
On a scale of one to ten how terrible of an idea do you think it is for me to try to channel my aura into you like I would a weapon or a baguette or..
[ It sounded like an idea she was thinking of in a panic. that deep, deep gash was calling to her, and though she was speaking quietly enough that only Ishida could hear. It's probably a bad idea that won't work, but it also might at least heal him up enough that he's not going to die before the doctor arrives. It could, right? It had to. ]
Not that it's that terrible, but.. [ Nice comforting talents, Weiss. ] It could use a little help.
[...what was she saying? to put her aura into him? that wasn't even possible was it?
ishida knew it wasn't possible, he had never seen that used in his father's clinic at all. though, he did want to make her feel better, make her feel like she was making a difference, so he just nodded at her. he smiled a bit, a reassuring one, before he coughed again.]
[ She'd prefer that Ishida would be honest with her. She's not the type to like things to be sugar-coated, but right now she can't exactly be mad at him. Later, sure, but for now..
Well, what else is she going to do? Weiss leans forward, putting her hands over his wound as she applies pressure, concentrating and trying to channel her aura into that wound. ]
Anything?
[ She couldn't see well with her hands applying pressure to try to slow the bleeding regardless. ]
[he was curious if this would work as well, however. when she attempted to help him he still felt nothing, and he sadly shook his head. his breathing was getting heavier and he held her hand tighter, feeling more of the agony wash over him.
ah, but it was starting to lessen, the pain was dying down... this wasn't good.]
Weiss- [his breathing hitched in his throat.] Weiss... please- [he had so many things he wanted to say but he simply couldn't say them right now.]
[ At some point she had closed her eyes, praying to who knows what to just save him. The person with the towels had come back by then and Weiss opened her eyes wide when Ishida spoke again. Okay, not working. Right. ]
I know it hurts, but if I don't apply pressure, you're going to bleed out. [ The only other thing she could think of to do would be to cauterize the wound, but if she wasn't careful, it would just cause him to bleed internally because of where it was. She reaches for one of the hot towels and places it against his wound, this time using the towel instead of her hand. Hopefully it'll at least warm the area up, maybe stimulate it a little. ]

It's probably a bad idea that won't work, but it also might at least heal him up enough that he's not going to die before the doctor arrives. It could, right? It had to. ]
Not that it's that terrible, but.. [ Nice comforting talents, Weiss. ] It could use a little help.

ishida knew it wasn't possible, he had never seen that used in his father's clinic at all. though, he did want to make her feel better, make her feel like she was making a difference, so he just nodded at her. he smiled a bit, a reassuring one, before he coughed again.]
Try it.

Well, what else is she going to do? Weiss leans forward, putting her hands over his wound as she applies pressure, concentrating and trying to channel her aura into that wound. ]
Anything?
[ She couldn't see well with her hands applying pressure to try to slow the bleeding regardless. ]

ah, but it was starting to lessen, the pain was dying down... this wasn't good.]
Weiss- [his breathing hitched in his throat.] Weiss... please- [he had so many things he wanted to say but he simply couldn't say them right now.]

Talk to me, Uryuu.
